Go To Sites

In it's current state the internet is a seething mass of ever changing text and content, that is a bit overwhelming at times. No one person could possibly read all the content that is available, nor would anyone really want to. The problem becomes, that when you need to know something in a hurry, who do you trust? These are my 'Go To' sites, that over the years I have come to love because they are good at providing the information or inspiration I need from them.

1. COLOURlovers: A color and design community that has democratized color trending. Need to know what colors are hot and work together? Go here and check out what has the most votes. Like a lot of voting sites, I do feel like the top spots tend to stagnate, as anything that makes it to the top just has an easier time staying there, but overall this is a great site.

2.Typechart: Going blind from staring at your stylesheets? Need to know what a font with X variations on it will look like? Not sure if the font you want to use is safe in X browser? This is the spot to hit. Nicely presented info about text and how it will look on the web.

3.HTML Dog: Back to the basics. If you are just getting started, and need help getting started with HTML, XHTML, or CSS, this is the place to go. Even if you are an old pro, the properties of all HTML and CSS tags are handily listed and are great for easy reference.

4. [CG Textures]: Need a picture of rust for a design you are working on? Wood grain? Cement? Ink splatters? It's all here, for free, and in high resolution. A great resource.
