Reading this article sort of makes me queasy on a number of levels. I like the idea of the internet being anonymous, because of the good it can do, ie. political change, spreading information, etc. I don’t like the idea of people using anonymity to be bullies and abusing that power (like this Reddit fellow). I don’t like the idea of people shooting one another but I’m also uncomfortable with the idea of only the government and criminals having guns. These thoughts aren’t really very well formed, but I do find myself leaning more Pro-Gawker in this situation, particularly after reading John Scalzi’s well formed summary of the situation.
