Apple’s Magic Is In The Turn, Not The Prestige

Apple’s Magic Is In The Turn, Not The Prestige | TechCrunch.

A good summary of how I feel every time I hear tech pundits whining about the iPhone looking similar to the last model. Everyone says that they recognize Apple products as good design, but then whine and complain when Apple doesn’t give them something new and different the next year. This makes no sense. Good design is not the same as fashion. There may be design in Fashion, but Fashion isn’t about comfort. It’s about novelty and trends. Design is about how you interact with an object. Something utilitarian as a phone doesn’t need to change every year because your hand and the shape of your face hasn’t changed. Your ears are still where they were. If a phone looked good and felt good in your hand last year, it should do the same this year.
