Notational Velocity

If you haven’t figured it out, I’m a bit of a gadget nut and I love to ‘fiddle’ with shit – often to the detriment of my art and writing.  This is the worst kind of ironic since looking at all these different tools, etc. is supposed to assist me in getting more done, not less.
Anyway, my new find is Notational Velocity.  I came across it a few months ago and was impressed with the idea of it, but never got that into it because it was an app on my desktop. I was seeking a note taking solution to compliment writing on an iPad and two separate MacBooks. It is a note taking tool built for speed. You never have to take your hands off the keyboard and you can search, create and link notes on the fly at super speed.
Of course, I only mistook it as a desktop app because that was how it was presented in the blog post I found it in.  As it turns out, you can tell Notational Velocity to link to your Dropbox account, even the Writer sub-folder created by IA Writer (another gorgeous app that I love), and get an instant view of all your work on the iPad. Not only that, but you get a fast way to interact and modify those notes.
Great little tool, and if you like fiddling more than producing (like me) you might want to give it a look-see.
